About
The name, and the house.
Candlavera is a coined name — and a small dessert-candle atelier, opened in Gatineau in 2026.
Candela · vera
Candela
Latin for candle, and the measure of light.
Vera
True. A promise, not a flavour.
The name was made, not borrowed. Candela is the old word for flame — the same root as candle, chandelle, candela. Vera means true. Together they make Candlavera: a true candle. One that looks like dessert, burns clean, and is poured by hand.
It sits between English and French, the two languages of this city. You can say it either way. The light is the same.

Gatineau, 2026
The house opened in 2026 on Avenue des Tilleuls, in Gatineau, Quebec. A boutique for dessert candles — macaron cups in soy wax, gold-dusted, under a clear dome — sold only to Gatineau and Ottawa.
One size. One price: $25 CAD. Gift box included. Free delivery in the two cities. PayPal, card, or Interac e-Transfer. Decorative candles — not for eating.
Every order is still packed at the atelier, 580 Av. des Tilleuls. A small house, a short list of flavours, and a table that looks like a pâtisserie.
